What is a "Slip and Fall" Injury?

A "slip and fall" injury is a personal injury that occurs when a person slips or trips, usually on an area
that is unexpectedly slippery, wet, or uneven. There are 3 general types of slip & fall accidents:







If a person slips and falls on the property of another due to preventable, unsafe conditions, the property
owner may bear legal liability for the person's injury. As a matter of fact, both the property may be held
responsible for the occurrence and resulting injury. The property owner has a responsibility to keep
property safe. The person who fell has a duty to watch where he is walking.  

What should I do Immediately After I “Slip and Fall”?

If applicable, notify the owner of the premises and file a report. If a report is not completed at the
business location or occurred at private location or was not observed by others, compile a record of
what happened yourself. Include information such as:

property owners have certain responsibilities that are owed to their guests, employees, or customers.
